LATONIA TURF NOTES Robert Wendling, who was badly injured in a fall at Hawthorne, is up and around, visiting relatives in Fort Thomas, Ky Wendling had his first mount at Lexington last spring and had ridden a number of winners. Racing secretary W. H. Shelley released the second condition book covering the racing from October 20 to October 27, inclusive. Col. E. R. Bradley, who has been at his Idle Hour Farm for several days, is expected to stop over here for a day or two this week on his way to Washington for the remainder of the Maryland racing season. It was understood here that his crack filly, Barn Swallow, will not fill her engagement in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes here a week from Saturday. She may start in the Selima Stakes and Pimlico Futurity. E. C. Hensel of Columbus, Ohio, is here with two three-year-olds that are ready to race. They are the gelding Country Tom, by Pluribus, and the filly Alice Del, by Best Pal. Dr. Louis Hamman and Translucent are additions to the stable trained by T. H. Craven. The former is owned by W. C. Goodloe and the latter t5y Mrs. J. P. Headley. Merrill Simmons is pointing two yearlings for winter racing. They are daughters of the young stock horse Saxon, and are from Olamix and Dorothy Marie. Grimace, a bay gelding two-year-old by Mirafel Farceuse, is here for racing under K. C. Barrs colors. W. C. Merrick was a late arrival from Fairmount Park with Wrigley Field, triple winner at the Collinsville track; also North-cutt, Sol, Hawk and The Break. Mrs. Martin J. Smith, of 1219 Northwest 38th St., Miami, Fla., has appealed to officials of the Latonia Jockey Club to assist in endeavoring to determine the present whereabouts of her husband. Mrs. Smith has been ill for sometime. B. B. Rice took over to train for L. Barry the three-year-old North Vernon. Mrs. A. G. Woodmans Ed Lark and Datt-ner arrived from Lincoln Fields and were turned over to Andrew Ayers to train. G. E. Lewis bought a second two-year-old from the Le Mar Stock Farm Stable when H. S. Hart sold him the filly Mud-raker. Yesterday Lewis, acting for C. W. Bidwill, purchased Mentality from the Le Mar Stock Farm Stable. Alex Grantz, who has been making J. McCoys engagements for several months, has taken over Danny McAuliffes book for the meeting. News of the death at Lexington Monday morning of Mrs. Lee Paul was received with much regret here. For years Mrs. Paul, who was in her seventy-seventh year, operated one of the leading boarding houses patronized by horsemen and their employes in that city. The contract Knebelkamp and Morris held on him having expired, Charles Landolt today signed to ride for C. H. Knebelkamp for a period of two years. Jockey Dan McAuliffe motored from Chicago Sunday and will accept mounts during the remainder of the meeting here. The ten day suspension of jockey F. Bur-ley, meted out at Fairmount Park, terminated Monday and he will get into colors in a short time. Calvin S. Rainey, nephew of J. D. Mooney, is ready to make his debut in colors. Rainey, a native of New Orleans, is 16 years old. Jockey Frank Burley was an arrival from Fairmount Park and will ride free lance here.
