CANNY SCOT, close up throughout, responded gamely when urged and, taking command in the stretch, withstood a hard drive and outlasted PROVEN. The latter was in close quarters on the inside on the far turn, was taken to the middle of the track in the stretch and was overtaking the winner. FLAXEN began flat footed, was then rushed up on the outside and bore over after taking command. CHARLES J. raced in close quarters most of the vvav.
