ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, 111., July 2.— Bien Fait, the Corsicana Stables fleet three-year-old son of Bubbling Over and Bon Voyage, had an excellent preparation for the 0,000 added Stars and Stripes Handicap, to be run at Arlington Park Wednesday when he went over the distance of the race, a mile and one furlong, in 1:50%. The track record is 1:49%. The Corsicana colt, which must carry only 104 pounds in the holiday attraction, was rated along at a steady pace, going the first half mile in :48, three-quarters in 1:12% and the mile in 1:38%. That he was able to go the final furlong in :12% resulted in favorable comment among horsemen. A field of at least fifteen and probably seventeen horses is indicated for the Stars and Stripes Handicap, with the outstanding candidates being William R. Coes Ladys-man, D. A. Woods Indian Runner, and Norman Churchs Plucky Play. Ladysman had a speed test for the engagement this morn-I ing when he ran five-eighths in the fast time of :59%. The top weight of the race, with 120 pounds to carry, he went the first quarter in :23 and the half in :46%. Other horses regarded as probable starters for the Stars and Stripes are Barn Swallow, Clarify, Sazerac, Inlander, Watch Him, Jovius, Navanod, Evergold, Big Beau, Good Goods, Thomasville, Advising Anna and Frank Ormont. Both Indian Runner and Evergold, which were beaten by noses by Hadagal Saturday over three-quarters in 1:104-., worked out a mile in preparation for the Stars and Stripes, the former being timed in 1:38 and the latter in 1:38%. Admiral Cary T. Grayson, one of Arlington Parks three honorary stewards, has arrived from his home in Washington and will remain several weeks. He is much improved in health following his operation during the winter. The second edition of the condition book, j covering the middle period of the meeting, i was issued today by secretary John B. Campbell.
