HEADLINER FOR TEXAS-BREDS Dallas Announces Futurity Race for 1936 Nominations Will Be Closed on October 1. DALLAS, Texas, April 5 Julius G. Reed-er, general manager of Fair Park, announced today that the Texas Centennial Championship Stakes will be featured in the racing program at the State Fair of Texas race track in 1936. Reeder, who is blocking out the conditions for the race, said it would be for Texas foals of 1934. The estimated value at the present time is between ,000 and ,000. The exact amount will be determined by the number of nominations made, for the race. Nominations will close October 1, 1935. In making this announcement, Reeder said: "The race is built to encourage the future breeding of horses in Texas. The Texas Championship Stakes will be run each year and nominations will close October 1 of each year. The event will be one of the features of race meetings at the State Fair of Texas. In closing the nominations on October 1, it will give the owners of the horses time to see just how promising they are." The State Fair track is giving every preference to Texas-bred, owned and trained horses. This policy was adopted at the fall race meeting and applications received for the spring meeting, which commences on Thursday, April 25, have been approved with this in view. Horses continue to arrive daily at the Dallas track and although a great number of them are being vanned to and from Arlington Downs for their engagements, the majority of the charges are awaiting the twenty-one day meeting. The announcement of the purse value and the attractive handicaps met with hearty approval of the horsemen and Reeder predicts the best meeting ever staged at Fair Park.
