1 BAY MEADOWS NOTES . s Mike Syufy, who retired from racing a few years ago after racing a large and useful string in the West for several seasons, reentered the sport when he claimed Dandy Dancer out of the last race Thursday. Frank Fuller, former trainer of Syufy, has been engaged to train the animal. During the absence of Edward Thomas, who has been engaged to start at the Detroit spring meeting. Clay Puett, inventor of the Puett starting gate, will preside at the barrier at Longacres. Detroit will over-1 lap Longacres by a week or more. The Puett starting gate will be used at the Seattle track during the session, replacing the Mexicaliente gate. Out of respect to Wood Axton, who died Thursday, the horses Gannonnic and Monks Jane were withdrawn from Fridays races by trainer Wayne Lewis. The two hordes race in the Axton colors.
