MELLON REVEALS AID TO BANKS PITTSBURGH, Pa., April 5. Testifying before the Board of Tax Appeals, Andrew W. Mellon, former Secretary of the Treasury, revealed that he had pledged his support to some member banks of the Mellbank Corporation so that they might remain open during the trying days of the 1933 banking crisis. He stated that he had agreed to take care of what was necessary for those banks eligible to do business. There are in all nineteen members of the Mellbank Corporation, which is a manageinent concern owned half by Mellons children and half by the estate or family of R. B. Mellon, brother of Andrew.
