1 BOWIE TURF NOTES " s Mrs. Silas B. -Masons Head Play, one of the present seasons outstanding handicap horses, is said to be headed east for the purpose of participating in the ,500 Phila delphia Handicap, scheduled to be run April 27 at Havre de Grace. Head Play defeated Azucar, Fleam, Gallant Sir, Sarada, Good Goods and Big Beau in the San Antonio Stakes at Santa Anita. Trainer J. T. Taylor has the 1933 Preakness winner in grand shape and he should prove a worthy opponent for A. G. Vanderbilts Discovery and others slated to perform in the closing feature of the Harford Agricultural and Breeders Associations closing stake. Marshall Cassidy, steward here and who fills a similar role on New York tracks, advises horsemen who intend to race over metropolitan tracks to file license applications at once with the license committee of The Jockey Club. R. E. Potts, of Baltimore, who has the Bomar Stables horses at Havre de Grace, made arrangements to ship Volgadale, Golden Saint and two two-year-olds over here. Bobby Currans Mettle bucked during the running of yesterdays race, which accounted for jockey Pollard pulling the plater up at the head of the stretch when running second. Silvio Coucci, with five victories, is setting the pace for the riders at this meeting. Jockey Carl Hanford motored over from Havre de Grace to ride, only to find that his mount had been assigned to Johnny Gilbert. Word came out of New York that Sammy Renick, who is here riding for A. G. Vander-bilt; Joe OMalley, who is riding free lance, and Tony Pascuma had their licenses tabled in New York. The Jockey Club also tabled the licenses of the following trainers: Fred Kraft, Willie Traverse, Raymond Coon, C. Hyde Smith, Charles Cafarelli, Matt Col-ford, Charles Miller, Willie Robinson, Charlie Grande and Charles Louie. R. E.
