1 HAVRE DE GRACE NOTES T Arthur Nelligan, veteran exercise rider in the C. V. Whitney stable, suffered a broken right collarbone when he was thrown while schooling the two-year-old Zuni from the gate. , Trainer T. J. Healey shipped all but three of C. V. Whitneys horses to Pimlico. Max Smart shipped the eighteen horses in his care over to Pimlico Friday. Motor vans also took Agrarian and others that George Strate has been training here over to the Maryland Jockey Clubs track for the twelve-day racing beginning, at 2:15 p. m. Monday. During the first ten days of racing here the halter brigade secured twenty-six horses.-The sum of 6,350 figured in the transac- tions. Charlie Ulbig of Baltimore will make the riding engagements at Pimlico for Bobby Merritt and the 100-pound apprentice Fy Faust. Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney was a clubhouse visitor. 1 Ex-jockey Jimmy Butwell, who is here interesting horsemen in the thirty-two days racing beginning May 29 at Charles Town, W. Va., states that the "Daily Double" will likely be included as part of the daily wagering. Walter E. OHara, owner of the Narragan-" sett Park, R. I., track, will likely race hia stable at Pimlico; that is, if his good handicap horse Howard makes a reasonable showing in the ,500 Philadelphia Handicap. Marshall Lilly has arranged to ship Mrsw Payne Whitneys Greentree Stable over to Pimlico, Sunday. j Eddie Brennan, racing secretary at Hag-erstown, which ushers in its ten-day meeting on May 21, reports that every stall at the Hub City track has been allotted. With fourteen races to go, the standing in the race for the 00 gold stopwatch offered! by general manager Burke reads: "Sonny"- Workman, eleven; Jimmy Lynch, nine. j George Alexandra has arranged to ship twenty of the J. E. Smallmari horses to8 Woodbine Park on May 1. Upon arrival in Toronto Alexandra will take up fifteen other-racers owned by the Canadian sportsman that were wintered in the Dominion. Vincent Mara, who recently took over the horses owned by Leslie E. Keiffer of Monk-ton, Md., has arranged to ship to Aqueduct on Sunday, where the racers will be freshened up. Jockey J. Stout was an arrival from New York, to join the large riding colony located here. J. U. Gratton, Montreal sportsman, has obtained no less than four racers via the claim- ing route at the present meeting and lost1 one through the same channel. J. E. Small- man, acquiring three, is the runner-up. There has been twenty-six claims during the present season. In her last race at Havre de Grace Last Time, owned by J. E. Smallman, suffered a I badly gashed foot and trainer George Alex- andra has been forced to let up on the filly until the cuts heal. For the reason that R. Merritt was en-" gaged to ride Only One for his contract employers, the Howe Stable, in the Philadel-; phia Handicap at Havre de Grace, the lad was forced to refuse the mount on J. H.I Louchheims Morpluck in the Wood Me-j morial. However, Merritt will likely receive the mount on the Louchheim colt in the1 Kentucky Derby. j
