The latter forced the pace from the start, closed willingly, but was unable to reach the winner. PEPPER PRINCE, well placed throughout, outlasted ANOKA. The latter made up ground in the last quarter. RED LABEL saved ground all the way, closed willingly, but was unable to reach the leaders in the final eighth. SHOWMAN was away slowly, but made up ground in the last quarter mile.
