HAMILTON, Ont., June 26.— E. Sigmans veteran five-year-old sprinter, The Pelican, which performed with considerable success during the winter months in Texas, made his debut a successful one in Canadian racing circles when he accounted for the featured Thistle Club Purse, an allowance affair over six and one-half furlongs, which occupied the stellar position on the second program the Hamilton Jockey Club meeting today. Carrying 114 pounds as his burden and opposed by five other shifty sprinters, the son of Haste and Catalpa, ridden in confi-. dent fashion by P. Remillard, scored in spectacular finish to take premier honors a head in advance of Sweepstaff, from the ie H. C. Hatch stable. Flanked alongside the fighting pair and beaten a nose by the Hatch h colt was D. R.
