THIRD CONSECUTIVE VICTORY Consistent Red Rod Chalks Up Another in Carrying Off the Omaha World-Herald Handicap. OMAHA, Neb., June 28.— C. E. Smiths consistent chestnut gelding Red Rod chalked up his third consecutive victory at Ak-Sar-Ben this afternoon when he accounted for the Omaha World-Herald Handicap, a six furlongs dash, with utmost ease. The three-year-old son of Transmute crossed the finish line with an advantage of three lengths over W. J. Potter, Jr.s Pol-V03 Pride, with J. H. Tates Whisking the third to catch the eye of the judges. Overcoming a poor start made Red Rods score all the more impressive. The gelding broke badly, but it wasnt long until he had worked his way into a contending position. Finding a firm path on the rail, jockey Lane sent his charge after the leaders, Polvos Pride and Miss Chicro, which were engaged in a head and head duel for the right to set the pace. Slipping through at the three furlongs pole, Red Rod took the lead and lost no time in drawing away to register by a comfortable margin. Supporters of Red Rod received .60 for each straight investment. Amazing ruled the choice in this contest and displayed a disappointing effort. A cloudburst during the early morning prevented the track from being at its best for this afternoons racing, but the racing strip was in far better condition than was expected, in view of the fact that the rainfall was reported at three inches by the weather bureau.
