SILENT SEA bean quicl.ly, displayed good speed to shake off CALGARY GIRL, was vigorously urged after reaching the home stretch and came out slowly at the finish. SWEEPDEN raced close up from the beginning, challenged strongly entering the home stretch and continued gamely under strong urging. CALGARY GIRL forced a steady pace, but tirod after racing a half mile. LITTLE SARGENT was unable to threaten. KID GLOVE was rushed into contention, but tired. KO was never a factor. PENABUD, away quickly, gained a slight early lead, shook off PATSY MACAW after racing a half mile, opened up a winning lead and, under stout urging, held SKY WARRIOR safe. The latter, slow to gain his best stride, worked his way up to the leaders rapidly and came courageously in the closing test. AMQUI broke swiftly, was kept in close attendance of the leaders and held on gamely. WAR HASTE raced prominently but failed to rally during the stretch drive. COROSWEEP broke slowly and could not menace. PATSY MACAW had nice speed and raced with the winner for a half mile, but tired badly thereafter. Scratched— 11669 Cablegram. 103. EILEEN D., away in the first flight, assumed command midway of the back stretch, sprinted clear at the final turn and came away at will. SWEEPLURE, placed in the thick of contention early, responded to punishment, but could not reach the winner. PRINCESS STAR improved her position steadily and came with good energy nearing the finish. SALVUS, on the outside throughout, was racing steadily at the finish. DIAMOND DIGGER saved ground while r;. ing forwardly, but was not good enough. LADY COYNE tired. BUNETTA displaved earlv speed. ROYAL VINTAGE, forwardly placed, moved up strongly to gain command at the stretch turn when BUD ROYAL swerved out, then drew out smartly until reaching the finish. FASCINATOR bettered his position gradually and closed with good energy, but cculd not reach the winner. BUD ROYAL, showing his best speed, resisted contention from CANDY POT, but came wide into the stretch. He came again after being straightened out. MAEBEE lacked speed and could not enter contention. CANDY POT began tiring after reaching the stretch. PLAYFUL MARTHA was poorly handled and was taken wide after racing on the inside early. SYNDIC tired. Overweight— Candy Pot, 2j pounds. SWEEPSTAFF, avoiding interference at the first turn to gain command, went along under steadying restraint until threatened, was shaken up to move clear entering the stretch, then held his field safe thereafter. FINALIST, going in his best form and a strong factor from the beginning, continued stoutly under punishment in the final drive. CATSWEEP, permitted to fall hack off the pace, came resolutely during the final drive. UNENCUMBERED showed a good effort. BIOGRAPHY was pinched back while in between CATSWEEP and FINALIST at the first turn, went up on the outside to reach contention, but weakened badly in the late stages. Scratched— 13269Ilchester, 110. KHAKI JOHN, having the most speed, was rated in front while saving ground, responded strongly when challenged and, holding on stubbornly, just lasted. FRIGID FROSTY, kept within striking distance of the leaders, swung to the outside when engaging the leaders and closed full of run. MISSOURI JIM made repeated efforts while in nearest pursuit of the winner and continued gamely to the end. FINESSE worked her way up on the inside, but was held safe in the closing test. MODERN ACE, taken wide on the first turn, better his position after reaching the back stretch, came strongly after entering a forward position and wore down ROCK CREST. The latter, steadied back of HEAP . GOOD for three-quarters, sprinted into a lone lead when reaching the home stretch, but could not stall off the winner. HEAP GOOD continued with good courage after being displaced. TIMON raced on his own coinage the entire trip. RAFFLES PROBLEM could not engage the leaders. EGAD was shuffled back early and raced wide. ROUGH WATERS was made too much use of getting to the leaders and quit. GRAND VIEW was carried wide at the first turn. Overweight — Heap Good, 2£ pounds: Rough Waters, 3.
