THISTLE DOWN NOTES $ v J. S. Mulvehill, owner of Beaver Dam, winner of the Clark Handicap at Churchill Downs, and one of the "dark" horses in the three-year-old competition, will ship the horse to Cleveland from Latonia on July 3, according to telegraphic advices received by J racing secretary R. A. Leigh. Beaver Dam is in the Ohio Derby. J. Miller, trainer for I. J. Collins, said that he would ship Paradisical and three others here on Monday of the coming week. They will come from Detroit. Paradisical is conqueror of Sun Portland, and will be a starter in the Ohio Derby, which is to be run July 6 at Thistle Down. Representatives of D. B. Midkiff, owner of Tearout, winner of the Latonia Derby and third in the American Derby, visited Thistle Down Thursday to make preparation for the shipment of the crack three-year-old here the coming week. He will go after the ,000 Ohio stake, nomination for which close on this Saturday. C. Hyde Smith, who shipped his string of the Odessa Farm Stable from Detroit to Arlington, wrote that he will send Eddie J. for competition in the local stake. Word from an unofficial source from New York has It that there is a possibility of Whizzaway and Psychic Bid being shipped here for the Derby. It is probable that a shipment of one express car from Chicago will bring the following to Cleveland during the coming week: Prince Splendor, Transmutable, which has been working especially for the Derby; Banish Fear and Chief Cherokee. Tom Keating, owner of McCarthy, Louisiana Derby winner, visited here last week and said that he would ship his charge to start in the Ohio stake, which is being resumed after a lay-off of two years. He is now in Detroit. Sun Portland, probable favorite in the Ohio feature, will be shipped this Monday, according to word received from Tommy Taylor, trainer for Mrs. Silas B, Mason. There is a probability that the Milky Way Farms will ship either Blue Armor or Galla-clay for the Derby. J. F. Clarks Clang, which was a threat for the Kentucky Derby in the winter books, recently proved his ability to go a route over the local oval, and is being pointed for the stake by trainer Bill Salee. Morris Griner has announced that he will ship Double B. from Detroit for the local engagement. Freddie McElroy shipped three horses here from Detroit to remain for the duration of the meeting.
