SHASTA BOY, never far from the pace, came fast on the outside of the early leaders in the stretch to take a good lead nearing the end and won going away. MOLLIFY followed GREEN TIMBER closely in the early running and raced gamely to the end. GREEN TIMBER displayed the most early speed, but tired in the stretch. CRYSTAL PAN broke slowly from the outside and made up ground. CANNIBAL showed early speed from an inside position. CORTE MADERA could not keep up and was never a contender. PEGGY GEORGE raced into a pocket in the back stretch and was forced to take back but came again after leaving the back stretch to find an opening in the run home and bested SIR ROSE in a drive. SIR ROSE was closest to SIR WAG in the early running and, going well to the finish despite meeting with slight interference, barely missed. SIR WAG displayed the most early speed and saved ground throughout, but tired near the end. COTLO BESS closed ground on the outside. ANSWER TRUE and SWEET MAYME tired after showing early speed. GEORGIA LILY saved in the early running while following SMALL MORTGAGE closely, forged to the front of the latter in the stretch to open up a good lead nearing the finish and win handily. SMALL MORTGAGE displayed good speed in pacemaking and held on fairly well but could not resist the winner. MORFIRE was in rather close quarters in the stretch but went well to the end. LIOLELE closed some ground but was never a serious threat. BARBARA LEE appeared a trifle sore and racing wide could never get within striking distance. POLYDORUS was badly outrun early, raced wide to make up ground in the stretch and pulled up a trifle lame. FRENCH HONEY was in close quarters while racing on the inside in the early running.
