and j TAX INCREASE PROPOSED" j BY KENTUCKY GOVERNOR LEXINGTON, Ky., April 7. Governor Chandlers proposal to the legislature now in session at Frankfort, for the purpose of enacting revenue bills, is that the daily license tax for running horse race meetings be ,500 at Churchill Downs, Louisville; ,500 at La-tonia and 00 at Keeneland, Lexington, and Dade Park, Henderson, and that there be an additional flat tax of twenty cents on each admission ticket. Horsemen and others interested in racing appear to give general assent to the license tax, but the feeling appears to be that twenty cents on each ticket is too high. The sentiment appears to be for 1 per cent of the general admission fee, with a minimum charge of ten cents on all tickets and badges. The governor and the legislators are being informed by the friends of horse racing and horse breeding that there has been no change in sentiment concerning the proposal to legalize dog racing in Kentucky and that the present bill is expected to be defeated as was the bill voted upon at the session in February.
