CROSS BUYS CONTRACT SAN BRUNO, Calif., April 7. Basil James, leading rider of the Tanforan meeting will report to a new contract employer following the present meeting. . L. W. Kidd, who developed the good young apprentice sold his papers yesterday to H. H. Cross, owner of the Tranquillity Farm for ,000 and James will leave for Louisville, Ky., following the running of the Marchbank Handicap Saturday. He will ride Indian Broom in the Marchbank. James, who is far in front of the other riders in the--Torley-Hickox jockey contest, hails from Sunnyside, Washington, can whip with either hand, and is sixteen years old.
