HATFIELD, well ridden and never far back, was sent around the leaders when taking command, drew away rapidly in the stretch, tired in the last stages, but withstood BARCARDI SWEEP. The latter, saved early, was forced to the outside at the far turn, responded well in the drive and was wearing down the winner at the end. PATCHEYE, slow to begin and outrun to the stretch, closed with a rush. PARA FOUR finished strongly. RETRIBUTION made up ground.. SOLITARY, used up forcing the pace, quit under pressure. RUCKUS quit.
