YOUTHFUL STAKES SATURDAY ,500 Prize for Juveniles to Be Run at Jamaica With Probable Field of Twelve. JAMAICA, N. Y., April 16. The Youthful Stakes of ,500 added, a dash of five furlongs for two-year-olds, headlines the offering on the first half holiday of the New York racing season at Jamaica Saturday and promises to be productive of a thrilling contest. Despite the backwardness of juveniles which wintered in this section, their advancement hampered by the severity of the winter, a field of at least a dozen is expected to trek postward for the twenty-fourth renewal of the stake, which will gross in the neighborhood of ,000, and is the most important two-year-old event of the budding eastern season. Belair Studs Andalusian, a brown son of Sir Andrew and the good race mare Priscilla Ruley, stepping along at a fast clip until he bolted to the outside, entering the straight in. a Wednesdays maiden event, displayed sparkling speed in that effort and is deemed a strong factor in the week-end special. Andalusian, is one of eight eligibles under the care of "Sunny Jim" Fitzsimmons, three of them from Belair Stud and the other quintet from the Wheatley Stable ensemble. Greentree Stable has a trio of eligibles in Mill Pond, Seventh Inning and So Red. John Hay Whitney has five probables, among them Court Scandal and Peggy Porter, a pair which showed good form in Hialeah Park competition during winter days. Mae-spur and Maedic, good performers in Florida, are considered likely starters in the silks of Maemere Farm. The Youthful closed February 3, with seventy-seven nominations and will serve to introduce to the turf several of the more highly regarded youngsters who have been putting in preliminary licks at the training tracks of their owners throughout the country. White Cockade was last years victor in the special, and the honor roll of past winners lists the names of such horses as Man o War, Chance Play and other great ones.
