EASTER TOMMY, lucky to escape interference on the first turn, followed MOON ROSE closely down the back stretch and heading the latter approaching the stretch turn, took a good lead to draw away in the final eighth. MOON ROSE went to the, front at once, was hard ridden after being headed by the winner and had little trouble disposing of PLUM ELECTED. The latter moved up to challenge for second place on the stretch turn but tired in the run home. LAPLAND met with serious interference on the first turn and was crowded back. GABBO was in close quarters while making his run. DODIE was forced to pull up going to the first turn and lost all chance. IN CHANCERY, off well, drew into a short lead around the far turn and increased his advantage after entering the stretch but barely lasted to win when his rider became overconfident near the finish. AMY COOPER, although in close quarters early, remained close to the pace and finishing well would have won in another stride. MORALE was well up from the start and went gamely to the finish. JOBIOSO showed fair speed and finished close up. BLUE LILLIAN lost her chance when she was unable to keep up with the leaders after going a quarter. TOROBANG tired badly in the stretch. LADY BOWMAN was hustled to a contending position soon after the start and coming to the outside of STAINFORTH in the stretch, wore down the latter to win in a drive. STAINFORTH showed good speed in pacemaking, raced ST. STEPHENS into defeat and went gamely after being headed by the winner. SEA CLIFF came fast in the stretch. ST. STEPHENS was in close quarters on the inside of STAINFORTH in the early part and tired in the stretch. CHIEF PILOT began slowly and was never a contender. CUYAMACA tired. RUSSET improved his position steadily under clever rating and raced well to the finish but was not good enough for the winner. SHASTA FIRE was rushed into a long lead in the early stages but was used up from her early efforts and tired in the stretch. KING CARESS was fairly close up all the way. MITTENS dropped out of it when the real racing began. LAZI CANTER closed ground. Overweight Clothtop, 2 pounds.
