BENDER FIRST, prominent in the early racing, rallied nicely when placed to a hard drive in the last five-sixteenths, moved into a slight lead in the closing eighth and continuing stoutly, barely lasted to outstay APATHY. The latter was hurried to the front "entering the back stretch, shook off WITTEKIND after three-quarters, saved ground and fought it out willingly under a severe drive. INFILEE improved her position on the outside, made a strong bid midway of the stretch and held on gamely at the close. LIGHT BROOK, badly messed about in the first three-quarters while on the inside, swung to the outside in the last quarter mile and finished full of run. POPO was in tight quarters in the first three-quarters and could not menace. SUN ABBOT tired. WITTEKIND stopped. Scratched 21726 Post Brigade, 111. Overweight Wittekind, 2g pounds. HELEN BAB, eased out of tight quarters while holding a position on the inside until reaching the turn, swung to the outside for the closing drive, finished determinedly and was up in the last strides. BOOCORD had good speed to displace SHEPHERD BOY midway of the turn, was hard ridden and fought it out stoutly until the close. SHEPHERD BOY, rushed hard from the beginning, saved ground when engaging the pacemaker and held on with good energy under punishment. CHILIAD broke fast and raced close to the leaders all the way. He was racing strongly at the end. SAINTED c6uld not threaten seriously when the final test came. GRACE BUNTING, prominent all during the running, tired in the last quarter mile. MISS ALPHONSO went wide all the way. MINNA was never a factor. SILVERY CLOUD was done early. LAST ROMANCE lacked speed and was unable to enter contention. Scratched 24662 Proteus, 113. AMPERSAND, stoutly ridden to gain command midway of the back stretch, opened up a clear lead in the last five sixteenths, but had to be hard urged approaching the finish to withstand SNOW FOX. The latter, forwardly placed, rallied nicely when put to punishment and. was gaining steadily nearing the close. SEVEN STAR, slow to settle in his stride, improved his position readily and closed full of run on the outside. FIGHT TALK had good speed in the first half mile then: tired steadily thereafter. KEARSARGE lacked earlv speed and was taken wide for the entire journey. MISS TWINKLE was stoutly ridden but could not reach the leaders. HATS OFF was under strong handling and had no excuses. Won driving; second and third the same. BILLY BEE, prominent in the early stages, responded to severe urging and closed fast to get up in the last few strides. TRUMPERY raced ROYAL WAGER into submission in the first half mile, "saved ground entering the stretch, shook off DANCING DOLL and fought it out resolutely in the closing drive. GALLANT MAC, repeatedly blocked in the first quarter mile, swung to the outside and closed fastest of all. DANCING DOLL, in a forward position from the beginning, tired suddenly during the final sixteenth. BROWN TWIG suffered interference midway of the back stretch, fell back at the turn and was unable to menace thereafter. BLACK GIFT was caught in tight quarters during the early running and was never a factor. ROYAL WAGER showed good speed for a half mile then tired. ONE CHANCE, rated within striking distance for the first three-quarters, moved up readily to take command entering the stretch, drew clear and came away into a long lead at the end. MISS PURRAY, kept close to the pacemaker after losing command, rallied nicely when shaken up but was no match for the winner. XANDRA went fonvardly from the beginning and held on with good courage to outstay NAVAL CADET. The latter went to his field strongly midway of the back stretch, was taken in hand, then was steered very wide in the last half mile and weakly ridden in the late stages. BUCK LANGHORNE went up on the inside to take command leaving the back stretch but tired in the last quarter mile. MAR PAL was outrun throughout. Overweight Xandra, 1 pound. SIX BELLS worked his way up on the outside and closed stoutly in the last half mile. DALMATIA, rated close to the leaders in the first three-quarters, gained nicely when shaken up but faltered during the closing eighth while under punishment. OVERSTIMULATE closed with a bold rush in the last five-sixteenths. PLAYOFF went prominently for three-quarters then retired. BRIGHT BIRD was hard ridden to hold a slight lead in the first three-quarters and tired when the real test came. HAPPY EASTER was done early. The ethers were held safe. THRUSTER, away forwardly and having good speed, took command at once, drew out into a clear lead, saved ground throughout and had enough left to hold PALASA safe. The latter moved up threateningly after a half mile, was wearing the winner down through the stretch, but was not good enough. SUN WAY, slow to find his speed, secured room on the inside and closed a good gap. TULEYRIES WAND had nice early speed to force the pace but tired. SMEAR raced evenly but could never threaten.
