TAYLOR STARS IN SPECIAL Indian Broom and Special Agent Nominated for Narragansett Parks Big Feature. PAWTUCKET, R. I., April 17. Just beating the deadline on the initial subscription closing for the Narragansett Special were two very much appreciated nominations from Vancouver, B. C. They came in the name of Maj. Austin C. Taylor and were that sportsmans recent purchase from the Brook-meade Stable: Indian Broom, the flying three-year-old colt, which so decisively whipped Top Row at Tanforan last Saturday, and Special Agent, recent winner of the San Francisco Handicap in track record time. Both Indian Broom and Special Agent were prime favorites at Narragansett last season when sporting the blue and white silks of Mrs. Isabel Dodge Sloane. Arrivals at Narragansett Park from Bowie this morning were the Boston horseman, Danny Shea, with nine head which included Currants, Fair Scout, Durwrack, Keene Jack, Coming Back, Martha H., and two new acquisitions whose identity Danny apparently is keeping a secret. C. C. Cushman brought in eight head, and Johnny Melan-son arrived with six head. Anthony Coucci, whose jockey brother, Silvio, does not approve of him owning horses, arrived here this morning with his stable of one, Royal Gold, a five-year-old horse by Golden Guinea Queen High. Trainers and riders are highly enthusiastic about the superb condition of Narragansett track this season. Despite the heavy rains of the past ten days, horses have been galloping steadily since April 6, and with the appearance of the sun yesterday many trainers breezed their charges in midseason style. Trackmaster Harry Keyes states the track wintered so well that only steady rolling and harrowing has been required. Advices from Arlington Downs indicate that no fewer than eleven carloads of horses will be shipped to Narragansett Park at the close of the Texas meeting, April 25.
