t LOUISVILLE TURF NOTES $ i- In addition to Boston Pal, Kentucky Derby eligible which injured himself in a fast trial here Tuesday, A. Lee Darnaby, veteran Kentucky horseman, has ten others under his care at Churchill Downs. The Kentucky Oaks filly Mary Terry, Novette and Military Lady are other older ones in the stable, the younger division of which consists of The Mayor, a son of Hollister; Black Noah, a son of Noah; the Timemaker gelding Fleet Wind; Alice Highland, a filly by Kai-Sang; Miss Adams, a daughter of Kiev.; the Flying Ebony filly Ebony Girl, and Raymetta, a filly recently added to the stable and whose breeding has not been ascertained by her trainer. The horses are the property of various owners, one of which is C. R. Thompson, a former mayor of Lexington. Several horsemen, who recently inspected the new race course at Keeneland, report the work of construction progressing nicely and are certain that when completed it will rank with the most picturesque in the country. Jockey Emmette Ramsey, who was thrown from the horse Riff during the training session Wednesday morning, was not seriously injured, examinations revealed. Ramsey hopes to resume his duties in a day or two. Twelve horses are in the string which Olin Johnson is training at Churchill Downs for James C. Ellis, and ten of them are juveniles. The youngsters, all by the sire Sweep On, are Sweeping Dame, Sweeping Maid, Pal o Sweep, Joy Sweep, Adelaide Sweep, Miss Tiny, Re-Sweep, Moonsweep, Onco Sweep and Sweep Hastily. Two two-year-olds and the older Bill Blei-weiss and Thistle Diana are in training at Churchill Downs under M. M. Riddle, who wintered here. The juveniles are Dr. Bert, a son of Crucifixion, and Ellen Lane, a daughter of Mere Play. T. L. Pierce arrived from Latonia with Buddie Treacy, Down in Front, Raymond and Davishill, the latter a two-year-old son of Galiis. The Pierce horses wintered at Latonia. James McGee is here for the season during which he will devote his time to making of engagements of jockeys M. L. Fallon and R. Wholey. Another local young horseman, whose stable is at Churchill Downs, is Clyde Pardue and he approached the coming meeting with four horses. They are Cooks Ormont and Pargo and the two-year-old Par-Queen and Par-Joyce. The latter is a daughter of Mere Play, and the former a daughter of Kentucky II. Cooks Ormont, a six-year-old maiden, has had a varied career during which he served as a saddle horse, stable pony and a farm work horse, his owner said. Both Nicks Chuck and Fritz Hallam, which Charles Grayson brought here from Oaklawn Park, Hot Springs, are training to his satisfaction and will be under colors during the spring meeting.
