QUICK LOOK came wide on the stretch turn to make his run and finished fast in the middle of the track. MAID OF PERTH was held under restraint close to VALINA in the early part and headed the latter after being straightened out for home, but weakened near the finish. TYNEMOUTH began slowly, was dropped in behind horses in the last quarter mile, and was going well at the finish. VALINA was used up getting to the front and tired in the last sixteenth. GATEWAY, lucky to avoid serious, interference when in close quarters approaching the stretch turn, got through a narrow opening on the inside during the stretch run to get to the front in the final sixteenth and win drawing out. POLVOS PRIDE had the most early speed and held on fairly well, but just managed to save second place. SPEED GIRL raced wide while making her move, but was going fast at the end. MERELY was taken up sharply when in close quarters rounding the far turn and again pulled up .approaching the stretch turn had little chance, although finishing well. TOROBANG followed the early leaders closely under stout restraint, easily moved to the front when ready around the stretch turn and, opening up a long lead in the final eighth, won as her rider pleased. GUIDE-LIGHT was forced to race wide rounding the first turn, but came gamely under urging in the stretch to best the others. PASS UP headed EUXINE in the back stretch to take a short lead, but tired in the run home. EUXINE was under restraint when headed by PASS UP and was never dangerous thereafter. BEHEMOTH was badly outrun most of the way and was never dangerous. MERRY GO ROUND and MARSALA could not keep up. Scratched 24952 Green Flame, 105. Overweight Behemoth, 1 pound. SEVENTH RACE 1 MILE. WEST STAR was closest to GOLD CLASP in the early running and, despite being shut off by the latter at midstretch, came to the outside to finish well and won under a strong ride. The latter took a long lead in the back stretch, bore out badly approaching the stretch turn and entered the stretch well out from the rail, then cut over at midstretch to interfere with the winner and FAIR ORBY, but could not last. FAIR ORBY was outrun for half the distance, then made a strong move on the inside around the stretch turn and might have won but for the interference suffered in the stretch. TRANSBIRD was permitted to drop far out of it under weak handling and closed with a belated burst of speed. BATAILLE raced in third place for three-quarters, then quit badly. CHANGING WAYS and CHROMIUM were practically eliminated when they were forced very wide on the first turn. Scratched 24896 High Wire, 101; 24577 Wild Hour, 101. The latter slipped through on the inside on the stretch turn to make a bold bid and raced well to the finish. INSTIGATOR, in close quarters in the back stretch, got through an opening around the far turn to take a good lead, but tired under punishment in the stretch.
