AURORA TURF NOTES T . The jockey colony at Aurora for the opening of the Fox Valley Jockey Club meeting May 1 will be one of the largest in several seasons and will show many new faces to Chicago patrons, the foremost being Charles "Chuck" Parke, the last of the riding Parkes, whose contract Benny Creech bought last winter for ,000. -Parke will come here with the Parke entourage and is among the first four riders in the standing of the American jockeys this year. Parke assumed the leadership of the jockeys at several times this season and is expected to make his most serious bid for the top at the Aurora meeting, when he will have the advantage of riding not only the Creech mounts, but several from other prominent stables. Carlos Mojena, Cuban jockey who led the riders at Fair Grounds last winter, is another who will report, and will be here next Monday to ride for the H. Torriente stable, among others. Frank Chojnacki, third in the list of riders at Fair Grounds last winter and now among the first ten in the national jockey standing, will be another who will report for duty at Aurora when the bugle calls the first race to the post. Several likely prospects will come from the ranks, in J. Donoho, who rode very cleverly last winter in New Orleans; W. Lang, a promising rider, and two newcomers, W. Dias and Michael Dziedziech. Among the other riders who will compete for honors in the nineteen-day meeting will be L. Turner, T. Dowell, J. Frederick, R. Simpson, J. Grace, R. Root, J. Leland, E. DePrema, C. Parvin, H. P. Ferguson, D. Holmes, J. OMalley, J. Dobson, R. Haber, H. Dudley, J. Dyer, H. Duncan, H. Fischer, R. Tilden, W. Bogan-owski, W. Balzerette, T?ex Wilson, W. Burnett, A. Fermin, D. Laurin, R. Clemons, J. Burrill, E. Roehm, J. Longden, H. Osborne, F. Albrecht, G. Rukas, N. Pierson and others. The horses of R. T. Watts, which include the Illinois Derby nominee My Auntie, will leave Arlington Downs, to arrive at Aurora Friday morning, according to advices received by racing secretary Leigh. B. Hernandez will ship sixteen head on Monday to Aurora, which will include his two Derby candidates Lolschen and Flag Cadet. Fourteen horses, the property of Mark Cox III., arrived at Aurora Thursday morning from Cheyenne. The millionaire sportsman has been training these horses on his track at his ranch, among them being San Luis Rey, Bing Crosby and others. The horses of N. K. Burkhardt and Clyde Troutt left Arlington Downs on Wednesday night for Aurora, the Troutt horses including the Derby candidate, Palm Island. Thomas Bradley, who recently was named president of the Citizens Bank and Trust Co., of Lexington, comes from a banking family, his grandfather having organized the Grinstead and Bradley private banking house, seventy-five years ago in Lexington. Mr. Bradley will serve as one of the stewards at Aurora. Racing secretary Leigh has opened his office at Aurora and is distributing trainer, jockey and other licenses for the Illinois Racing Commission, in addition to registering horses and attending to the advance detail. The only cancelation of horses which were, to come from Arlington Downs was E. B. Carpenter, who had several horses claimed from him. Secretary Leigh said that he is hard pressed for stalls and only those assigned stall room will be permitted to enter the grounds. Despite building four new barns, Aurora is overwhelmed with stable applications and following the close of the meeting, many horses will be permitted to remain on the grounds by general manager Eddy as co-operation to Hawthorne. The latter has less stall room than Aurora and is in the same fix. I
