j BOLD VENTURE LOSES RIDER j | IN TRIAL AT BELMONT j NEW YORK, N. Y., May 13.— Morton L. Schwartz Kentucky Derby winner Bold Venture caused some anxiety at Belmont Park this morning when Ira Hanford, who was working him, fell from the saddle when a stirrup leather broke. The colt, however, instead of bolting off, jogged home to his stable none the worse for the mishap, while Hanford also escaped injury. The son of St. Germans and Possible was having a bit of a speed test before being .sent to Maryland to fill his engagement in the Preakness at Pimlico, Saturday. Before Hanford was unseated the colt had gone six furlongs in 1:12%, handily, and it was ample to indicate that he has all his speed. The fractions were :23. :34, :46i:., :59~ and 1:12?:%, and he accomplished the fast move handily.
