ft AURORA TURF NOTES t e Jockey Ross De Prema, who rode for a number of years for B. A. Jones, accepted a position with the stable of R. J. Speers, wealthy Winnipeg, Canada, sportsman, and plans to depart for the Dominion the latter part of this week. Eugene Bury, racing secretary at Ak-Sar-Ben, is here for a few days in the interest of the impending Omaha season, which gets under way on May 28 and continues through July 4. Bury reports that there is a great demand for stalls at the Nebraska course. The consistent sprinter, Bald Crest, in the stable of Mrs. C. C. Winters, has recovered sufficiently to be returned to training at the Fox Valley Jockey Clubs course. Among the visitors at Aurora Wednesday morning was Ed Ferriss, secretary of the Arkansas Racing Commission, and he plans to remain in this vicinity for a few days. Alcee Richard, veteran rider formerly with the Lone Star Stable, has returned to action after a long lay-off. Apprentice Frank Chojnacki, Chicago youngster, is showing the way to the jockeys at the Aurora track, having piloted home ten winners up to Wednesdays racing, and he bids fair to carry off the honors for the meeting. E. J. OConnell. trainer for Smith and OCon-nell and Mrs. L. E. Carmichael, contemplates shipping his charges to Omaha, Neb., at the conclusion of the Fox Valley Jockey Club meeting. Following the close of Aurora, secretary Leigh plans to visit Hot Springs, Ark., for a rest before returning to his home in New Orleans for the summer. Francis Polk, who topped the American jockey list early in the year until he was injured at the Fair Grounds, will lose his apprenticeship after Saturdays races here.
