f DETROIT TURF NOTES $ $, The horses of Charles Howard, wealthy San Francisco automobile dealer, will be unloaded at the Fair Grounds Tuesday morning, making the trip direct from San Francisco. The stable has a useful string of horses, including several promising two-year-olds. Judge Joseph A. Murphy, director of racing, received word that Duval Headley would arrive Tuesday with fifteen horses, chief of which is Hollyrood, a Detroit Derby eligible. H. D. King checked in from Beulah Park with Sweeping Broom and Beryl King. F. A. Griffith flew here from his home in New York and after inspecting his horses took a plane back to Long Island. Jockey E. Delmado had his first mount of the meeting Monday. B. Yates has been engaged to train Pent House and Sure Gamble for the M. D. Stable. At the end of the first seven days of the Detroit meeting, apprentice B. Guyom was the leading rider, with ten victories to his credit. Leonard Turner was second with six triumphs, and J. Mattioli and R. Fischer had ridden four winners each. Johnny Winans has been engaged to train Gay Days and Dame Grundy. The pair arrived here Sunday. 4
