f TH0RNCLIFFE PARK NOTES f s k Wilfrid Davies, well known breeder, has been appointed to serve as the horsemens representative in the stewards stand on opening day. Mr. Davies will act in conjunction with Wm. R. Woollatt and J. P. Turner. Throughout the meeting one of the leading horsemen at the Leaside course will serve as the third steward, a feature that was inaugurated at Devonshire Park, Windsor, last season and which proved exceedingly popular at the border track. James Loftus, of the staff of the New York State Racing Commission, received leave of absence from that body and was an .arrival with his wife to take in a few days of Canadian racing. He will visit Detroit after his departure here and will later proceed to Arlington, Park, Chicago. Jockey C. McTague, who suffered slight injuries when kicked by Royal Vintage at Woodbine, stated that he would resume riding Tuesday. Mrs. J. A. Smith claimed Dark Mission out of the last race at Woodbine Park on Saturday for ,000. Fred Fox has taken over the horses of Mrs. G. Hogarth to train. They include Roche DOr, Missouri Jim and Russell H. Jack Hutton has taken over several of the H. R. Bain horses to train during the absence of J. Bosley, Jr., who is in charge of a division of that establishment at Belmont Park. A draft of the J. Cattarinich racers, including Freestone, Stone Chatter, Joggle, Smokewood and Woodswift, arrived from Montreal in charge of Walter Richey. W. Zakoor was an arrival from Detroit and will remain for a few days of sport here. E. Craigie has been placed in charge of the J. C. Fletcher performers that were formerly in the care of J. H. Black, Jr. Notice was posted on the bulletin board stating that only horsemen starting, a horse at the meeting are eligible to claim.
