Won driving; second and third the same, CLARiCE McCLAIN improved her position steadily and, getting through an opening between SILVER BANQUET and LITTLE HANK, got up to win in the final strides. LITTLE HANK came very fast after entering the stretch to take a short lead nearing the wire, but could not resist the winner. SILVER BANQUET opened up a long lead while making the pace, but tired in the stretch. COLONEL B. B. was in close quarters while racing on the inside, but was ridden none too well. MORFIRE drew away from ELANAC after leaving the back stretch, opened up a good lead, but tired in the stretch and was doing his best at the end. ELANAC permitted MORFIRE to draw away approaching the stretch turn, but came again in the last eighth and was gaining rapidly at the finish. BESS COT made up ground in the stretch. GOOD MARY was close to the pace from the start and, taking command in the stretch, went well to the end to win going away. JIM McCONNELL improved his position in the last quarter while saving ground and went well to the finish. TRILLIUM came very fast on the outside after leaving the back stretch and went well to the end. GEORGIA LILY, close up in the early stages, was eased back when caught in rather close quarters nearing the stretch turn, was then foolishly taken to the outside and, after being forced almost to the outside fence on the stretch turn, could not get up and can do much better. TANKIE dropped back after leaving the back stretch, but came again on the outside in the stretch and may have been best. SALUDEAN was fairly well up all the way. BARSAC, well rated in the early running, moved up steadily approaching the stretch turn and, coming to the outside of SKEETER HAWK, wore down the latter and held SHABONEE. The latter lost ground when making her move in the last quarter, but was racing strongly at the finish. SKEETER HAWK opened up a good lead while making the pace, but tired in the stretch. QUIVER, well rated for over half the distance, made her move approaching the stretch turn to head MOPECO and easily caught TRY IT in the stretch. MOPECO failed to make his move with QUIVER and, after being headed by the latter, was forced to come to the outside in the stretch, but closed well. EIGHTH POLE improved his position steadily and was going well at the finish. TRY IT was rushed to the front early to open up a long lead and had nothing left.
