TWELVE MAY FACE BARRIER Brilliant Band of Fillies Expected to Compete for ,000 Prize in Clipsetta Stakes. LATONIA, Ky., June 4. Indications point to a field of twelve or. more participants in the fifty-fourth running of the ,000 added Clipsetta Stakes, which will feature Saturday afternoons program at Latonia, according to the opinion expressed by racing secretary W. H. Shelley this morning. When the deadline for nominating was reached on May 6, a total of eighty-four nominations were in hand and from that group the best members of the. group of fillies will be among the starters. J. T. Taylors Planetoid, which was shipped to the Milldale course from Belmont Park early in the week, was credited with the most impressive trial of any of the candidates when the gray filly went five furlongs in 1:00, breezing, a three-star workout. The gray daughter of Ariel Lachica definitely demonstrated her fitness for the engagement Saturday in her trial, the fractions of which were: :22 for the quarter; :34 for three-eighths; half mile in :47 and the five-eighths in 1:00. The impressive workout, combined with the fact that Planetoid asserted her claim in annexing the Joan dArc Stakes over high grade opposition at Narragansett on May 6, makes her loom up as favorite for this years renewal of the fixture. The Dixiana Farms Tootsie Cake, one of the six eligibles under the supervision of Clyde Van Dusen, went five furlongs in preparation for the stake in 1:02 in handy manner. Arthur B. Hancocks Lily Maid was the only other candidate for the Clipsetta called on for a speed test, traversing five furlongs in the unimpressive time of 1:05. It is regarded as probable that Van Dusen will decide upon three representatives from Dixiana with Shootin High, Foolish Moment and Woof as the most likely choices of the six from which he has to select. Others considered as starters at this writ-1 ing are All Agog and Misapprehension, from the stable of Hal Price Headley; Mrs. R. H. Lloyds Wowo; J. N. McKeons Quilt Pieces; Millard T. Nelsens Wise Beauty; J. W. Parrishs Perlette; Rockhome Stables Busy Lutrecia and Rosedale Stables Hill Girl.
