MARS SHIELD, making her First start, easily kept up in the early stages, came to the outside in the stretch and, after wearing down the leaders, drew out without need of strong pressure. PHALASAN forced the early pace under light restraint, took a short lead under strong riding in the stretch and held on well, though not good enough to withstand the winner. SOLAR MAID saved much ground and tired in the late stages, but outstayed SARANARA. The latter raced wide throughout. PANDISCO lost ground early, dropped back on the turn and was not a strong factor thereafter. PRINCESS BULL showed nothing. FYAN had speed, but quit badly. MAXINE B. unseated her rider when she swerved out sharply soon after the start. Scratched Sunset Girl, 115. SECOND RACE 6 1-2 FURLONGS Out of Chute. MY SURPRISE, lucky to slip through on the inside when working his way to the front, slightly increased his advantage without need of strong urging when entering the stretch, but was strongly shaken up near the end. SANTERNO improved his position gradually, came to the outside in the stretch and, after crowding back JADAAN in the last sixteenth, quickly overtook CHATTERFOL and was rapidly wearing down the winner. CHATTERFOL displaved fair speed, was well rated and held on creditably. JADAAN was racing strongly when forced back by SANTERNO in the last sixteenth. SHADY GIRL made up ground. CHERAW failed to improve his position. TRIOLET began slowly. MR. JOE showed a flash of speed and was eased up in the stretch. Scratched 263323Doris B., 109. LISA BELLE, on the outside throughout and a strong factor from the start, gradually wore down FROST BITE, then drew out fast for a handy win. FROST BITE raced to the front on the inside, swerved out when increasing her margin entering the stretch and held on well to the final eighth, where she again swerved when tiring. FULL UP was under light pressure after three-eighths and had no mishaps. LOSWEEP tired in the final drive. WILDERNESS WAY raced evenly, but pulled up very lame.
