Apprentice Critchfield was suspended five racing days by starter Cassidy for disobedience at the post. Jockey Eddie Arcaro will return to Chicago to join the main division of the Calumet Stable racing there. Trainer W. Brennan is undecided about starting Greentree Stables Memory Book in the Belmont Saturday. Word from Far Rockaway Hospital is to the effect that Bobby Wilson is recovering rapidly from an appendectomy at that institution. Horsemen were notified that nomination for the Saratoga Special close on June 20. Jockey R. Workman, Jack Healey and John Gaver returned from Rockingham Park, where they witnessed Wednesdays racing. Maj. Louis A. Beard, general manager of the Whitney breeding interests, arrived from Lexington and will remain over for the Belmont. H. P. Headley returned from a business trip to Lexington, Ky., and will supervise the saddling of Hollyrood in the Belmont on Saturday. James Fitzsimmons brought over the Wheatley Stables Teufel for paddock education during the afternoon. Mrs. H. C. Phipps was on hand to inspect the colt when he airived from Aqueduct. At private terms, William Jenkins purchased from Jack McPherson the three-year-old Scout Leader. . 1 1 r ir i rf tp. Bill Warnke interested racing followers in a bus ride and entertainment for veterans connected with the Northport Hospital, which will be held on June 21. Cigarettes, ice cream and entertainment will be supplied by the St. Albans Post of the American Legion, in which many racing veterans of the World War are members. Trainer George Odom stated that Chance Ray, owned by Mrs. W. Plunket Stewart, has been retired for the summer and shipped to the farm. He will be placed back in training for the fall and winter season.
