COMMUNITIES TO BE HONORED Southeastern Nebraska Day at Omaha Track Monday, June 8 Other Territories to Be Feted. OMAHA, Neb., June 4. The first of a series of special days at the Ak-Sar-Ben meeting for residents of surrounding communities will be inaugurated Monday, June 8, when Southeastern Nebraska will be honored. Each of the races on Mondays program will be named in honor of one of the communities in that part of the state. The handicap race of the day will be called the Ak-Sar-Ben Apple Handicap, in honor of the choicest product of the thousands of acres of apple orchards in southeastern Nebraska. The six other races will be called the Plattsmouth Purse, the Nebraska City Purse, the Falls City Purse, the Auburn Purse, the Tecumseh Purse and the Pawnee City Purse. Saturdays feature race, a ,000 handicap at a mile and seventy yards, will be called the Governors Handicap, in honor of Gov. R. L. Cochran, who, with Mrs. Cochran, will be guests of Dwyer Yates, member of the board of governors of Ak-Sar-Ben, on that day. Cochran will present the floral wreath to the winner of the main event. Favorites won two of the first three races at Ak-Sar-Ben Thursday afternoon when apprentice Chojnacki accounted for the second event with Morfire, and apprentice Shultz won the third event with Loafer. The opening race was won by Clarice McClain, a nine-year-old Nebraska-bred maiden. The weather was sultry and the track fast. The stewards have announced that they will not accept the entry of the horse Dr. Louis Hamman again at the meeting. The animal is a bad post actor and recently delayed the start for many minutes.
