NEW RACE FOR MARYLAND-1 j BREDS IS ANNOUNCED j BOWIE, Md., April 2. -In connection with the annual show of Maryland-foaled yearlings to be held as usual at Pimlico Thursday, May 12, Alfred G. Vanderbilt today announced that at the Pimlico spring meeting of 1939 on the day of the yearling show there would be inaugurated an annual new racing event in the shape of a special race for two-year-olds which will have been exhibited in the yearling show of this year. This will be a ,500 feature. To the breeder of the winner president Chester F. Hockley of the Maryland Horse Breeders Association announced there will be presented a special trophy commemorative of the event. The show will have two classes, one for colts and one for fillies, the winner of each event receiving a trophy and the champion yearling receiving an extra award. James E. "Sunny Jim" Fitzsimmons has again consented to judge the show, which will be in the Pimlico infield, through the courtesy of the Maryland Jockey Club. c
