1 LOUISVILLE TURF NOTES " -4 Ernest White, chief assistant to E. A. Weidekamp, superintendent of the mutuel department at all tracks operated by Col. M. J. Winn, has returned here from Keeneland to spend several days with Weidekamp. White goes back to the Lexington track next week. According to Joe Kederis, who has several horses here for F. P. Letellier, that New Orleans turfman will arrive with twelve more from Oaklawn Park over the week-end. Kederis believes that several which he is looking after, will be turned out, leaving Letellier with about fifteen for immediate racing. Dr. W. W. Coover, veterinarian to the state racing commission, was in Louisville and visited the two local tracks. Jack T. Weaver, acting for William E. Smith, has requested stalls for six horses at Lincoln Fields. The stable will be shipped to the Crete track following the Downs spring meeting. In addition to Riff, Ripplealong and Southern Miss, which campaigned at the New Orleans Fair Grounds and arrived here Wednesday, J. F. ONeill, Indiana turfman, has Miss Nadi, Orandum, Lee Allgeier and Mary High at the Downs. The latter two are owned by Carl Alger of Detroit. C. L. Groan, state racing commissioner whose stable will campaign at Keeneland and Churchill Downs this spring, rarely misses an opportunity to spend a few hours at Churchill Downs during the daily training periods. With the compliments of the Kentucky racing commission, racing officials and turf writers have received specially bound volumes containing the revised and amended turf regulations of that body. The horses J. Graham Brown has in charge of Tom Sanford continue to do nicely, and several of them may be seen under colors at Keeneland. The horses race under the nom de plume of the Brown Hotel Stable, which is made up chiefly of two-year-olds which Brown purchased at public sales last year. Bill Cunningham, who sojourned here a week after returning to his home from Santa "Anita, has gone to Lexington, where he will remain through the forthcoming meeting. Cunningham serves as paddock judge and timer at a number of tracks. He was accompanied to Lexington by Lou Cahn. Two additions to John Anhuts Imperial Farm stable at Douglas Park are Imperial Queen and Imperial Nick. They came from their owners farm in Michigan and were received here by trainer Al Steele. Nick Burger has taken over the horse Ahead, which John Jones had at Douglas Park the past six weeks. The horse is owned by Mrs. Burger, whose other racers her husband brought here from. New Orleans a few days ago. Fra Diavolo and Jesting Lady, shipped here from Santa Anita with the stable trained by J. Tommy Taylor, were taken to Douglas Park by their owner-trainer, M. Nelson. Jack Hodgins went to Lexington Saturday to inspect several horses belonging to his employer, Anthony Pelleteri, and he expected to bring several back to Churchill Downs for training. At the Downs he has a big unit of the Pelleteri stable. The Derby nominee Sorties Son, owned by E. F. Woodward of Houston, has resumed training following a short lay-off due to illness contracted while en route here from California. Alex B. Gordon, a prominent figure on the turf for many years but currently not pursuing his profession as trainer, arrived from Hot Springs with Mrs. Gordon. They wintered in the Vapor City and will remain in Kentucky for the spring meetings. Gordon, like many others who have visited Oaklawn Park during the meeting which closed Saturday, had much praise for the starting of Reuben White, who dispatched the fields there. Morris Vehon, Chicago turf patron whose horses are handled by the able Jake Lowen-stein, is expected here from his home to inspect his colorbearers at Churchill Downs. The Vehon and Lowenstein horses are making steady progress in their preparation for the coming season and some of those which come to hand early may be taken to land.
