FINDON, racing in her best form, raced in close pursuit of the leaders, came to the outside of MAETAKE in the closing eighth, then closed stoutly to draw out inside the final sixteenth. MAETAKE worked her way through on the inside on the final turn, gained a short lead in the last eighth, but could not stave off the winner. DO IT had his best speed, raced BROGAN into submission, but was unable to keep pace in the last three-sixteenths. DUSKY MAID challenged strongly to the final turn, but tired badly under punishment. CHECK SIGNAL dropped far out of contention and could not threaten thereafter. BROGAN was done early. SWEET SHOWNO was outrun. Scratched 56136 Kai Sou,. 105. THROTTLE WIDE forced a fast pace and held on gamely to the end. KATE SMITH was handled stoutly, but could not better her position. HANDIBOY failed to engage the leaders. The latter, hustled from the start to keep within striking distance of the leaders, moved up rounding the turn and closed determinedly on the outside. LIPTON displayed good speed to set the pace and fought it out stubbornly in the closing drive. MANRICO, kept clear on the outside, could not threaten. BLIND PIG was ridden strongly, but was held safe. BLACK MISTRESS showed speed for three-eighths, then quit. Overweight Manrico, 1 pound; Black Mistress, 2. BLIND BROOK stole through on the inside on the first turn when. the field swung wide to take command, was rated nicely and held on gamely when caught. MAKEIT raced prominently and held on well when put to a drive. BLUE FLAME raced well throughout. BOMBASTIC made a wide swing on the first turn and was held safe. ASTRA lost much ground on the first turn. ETHELS CHOICE bolted out on the first turn when leading her field into the bend, dropped back, then was permitted to chase after her field. MISS ALINE quit.
