OFFICIALS WARN PUBLIC LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 2. Churchill Downs or its employes are in no way connected with any lotteries or sweepstakes which might be drawn on its Kentucky Derby, it was emphatically reiterated by track officials today. The management said that it desired to warn the public that it has no representatives or connections with persons said to be soliciting lottery or sweepstakes tickets on the outcome of the Derby, nor has it authorized the name of Churchill Downs or the Kentucky Derby to be used in such illegal schemes. This announcement was made following receipt of several inquiries about a lottery on the Derby.
