BULL LEA IN KEENELAND WORK Turns in impressive Trial When Breezed Mile in 1:45 Jockey-Anderson Aboard. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 2. Bull Lea was moved from Calumet Farm to Keeneland this morning to provide the most impressive workout of the spring by a member of the small colony of Kentucky Derby eligibles here. With the five-year-old Crossbow II. as running mate and beating him three lengths, Warren Wrights big colt stepped one mile in 1:45, breezing. Trainer Frank Kearns was well pleased with Bull Leas effort and also by the manner in which he cooled out. The track was not at its best, although dry and offering good footing. ANDERSON UP. Irving Anderson, contract jockey for Calumet Farm, was up on. the son of Bull Dog and Rose Leaves, although an exercise boy gave the colt his preliminary gallop. With Crossbow II. on the inside, the two colts broke into speed at the mile post of the mile and one-sixteenth track. Crossbow II. took a slight lead as Anderson kept Bull Lea under stout restraint, the first quarter being run in :27. They completed the half mile in :53 and the three-quarters in 1:19. As the two horses turned into the stretch Anderson let out a notch and Bull Lea drew away from Crossbow II. gradually in the final furlong, covering the last quarter in :25, the fastest quarter of the workout. Despite a sharp turn to frigid weather, a good-sized group of horsemen gathered to view Bull Leas trials PLEASING WORKOUT. Another pleasing Derby workout was that of Shandon Farms Dickerville. He breezed the mile in 1:46 under the supervision of trainer J. J. Gre"eley, Jr. Rated under stout restraint all the way, the home-bred son of Sun Flag and Spices was timed the half mile in :49 and three-quarters in 1:17. Dickerville started but twice last year. In his first he established the present record of :46 for the Headley course. He was left at the post in the Lafayette Stakes and was retired for the yearf Dickerville has been in training at Keeneland since the first of the year.
