---------------------------f Here and There on the Turf Menow and Bull Lea to Meet Coldstreams Foals Impress Ringing Clique Is Stopped Filly Match Is Suggested -t Menows next outing will be in the Mere-worth Purse at Keeneland Thursday. If all goes well the Belmont Futurity winner will be opposed by Bull Lea. . . The race will go on if these are the only starters. Charles Kurtsinger again will ride the big son of Pharamond II. and Alcibiades, unless prevented by an engagement in New York. Menow came out of his three-quarter race Friday in fine condition and will be tested in the Mereworth at a mile and one-sixteenth, then the Blue Grass Stakes at a mile and one furlong. If he shows any distaste for distance running, Headley wants to know it. . . Bull Lea demonstrates his readiness for the Mereworth engagement by his excellent trial at Keeneland Saturday. He has been given much longer workouts than Menow. Churchill Downs has ordered a totalizator for next year and Lincoln Fields for this spring. Latonia completes the trio of American Turf Association courses. It will not be surprising if the Milldale course has the electrical bet recording apparatus at its fall meeting this year . . . First foals by Coldstream are arriving this spring. If they perform in racing to their looks the son of Bull Dog and Nimble Hoof will be a success in the stud. He stands at the farm for which he was named, Charles B. Shaffers place in the blue grass . . .Clyde Van Dusen will split the Dixiana Stable when it leaves the farm. He will take the main division to Churchill Downs and the second string will do what it can about bagging some purses at River Downs. Charles Stevenson, of course, will remain with the smiling Van Dusen to do his riding. . . Blind Pool went three furlongs in 35 seconds the other morning. Unfortunately, the 17 hands, 3-inch gelding came out of the trial in a lame condition. It may not be serious, however . . . B. F. Whitaker will assemble his entire stable at Belmont Park following the close of Havre de Grace. J. H. "Blackie" McCool has the main band in Maryland now and Jack. Howard is preparing six well bred two-year-olds for the Dallas sportsman at Lexington. . How he performs this week will determine whether Bourbon King shall be shipped to Havre de Grace for the Chesapeake Stakes. . . Only the strictest supervision prevented another "Phara" case at Santa Anita this winter. The clique suspected of ringing ambitions likely will show lip in New England this summer. They try to operate only at tracks where it is possible to make a tremendous wager. Associations cannot guard against this evil too closely. Another evil pari-mutuel tracks must combat is bookmaking. Despite the vigilance of state inspectors, several layers operated in Florida this winter. They did business only with big players, however . . . Thomas J. Healey has high hopes that Black Look will race to his early promise this season. The fast son of Whichone underwent an operation for his wind last year and was gelded after his purchase out of the C. V. Whitney dispersal last fall . . . Talking about match races, why not one between Oddesa Beulah and Charlotte Girl. Both these speedy two-year-old fillies are undefeated in six and five starts, respectively. Elwood Sachsen-maiers home-bred has done the more important winning, with three stakes victories, but Oddesa Beulah equalled one track record and broke another. The Detroit-owned miss will get her first chance at a sizeable purse in the Lafayette Stakes next week. Most of the important breeding establishments report more colt foals than fillies this Spring . , . No announcement about plans for Washington Park has been made, but the same capable staff of officials is expected to return there. Ben Lindheimer may make a statement soon . . . One of the best named horses now racing is Taxes. Hes by Eternal . . . When the nominations for Delaware Parks stakes are disclosed they will show the interest in that new track of leading owners in the Middle West as well as the East. They close today . . . Roscoe Goose has high hopes for Nunizo Paristo developing into a good rider. The Italian lad hails from Buffalo, N. Y. Thj Kentucky trainer, a former jockey himself, developed Eugene James, Gilbert Elston, Charles Kurtsinger and Charles Calvin, among others. Paristo will get his chance this summer,
