1 BAY MEADOWS NOTES t j It is the intention of E. L. "Woody" Fitzgerald, trainer for the Macaroo Stable, to weed out some of his stock to make room for the two-year-olds he intends to take up and make ready for a campaign on the California tracks. Trainer L. T. "Whitey" Whitehill, who is now on his own and confining his work to the six horses he has for Mrs. Whitehill, is spending several weeks at Hot Springs. During the absence of the Whitehills, the horses will be under the direction of his stable foreman and the string will be shipped directly to the Inglewood course of the newly organized Hollywood Turf Club, as soon as stable room is available. Jockey "Shorty" Adams, who was forced to abandon his saddle work after his fall from Miss Chase a few days ago will resume riding Saturday. Heroique, which gave such good nromise as a two-year-old but had to be temporarily retired due to infirmities, is ready to resume her racing career, and will probably blunder colors next week. The filly races for C. M. Willock under the direction of trainer W. Osborne. Apprentice Pete McLean, who rode the first winner of his career when he piloted Tonyman to victory Thursday, is one of the most promising young riders on the grounds. He has been exercising horses for about three years and should soon be winning his share of races. McLean is a native of Boston, Mass., and is under contract to Charles Shaw, Jr. He is eighteen years of age and rides at 102 pounds.
