Denemarks Candidate Being Shipped From East Immediately Present Prospects Indicate Field of Fifteen for Big Race of May 7 Three Chicago Owners to Be Represented Woolf Replaces James LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 28. The size of the field for the Kentucky Derby, which will be renewed a week from Saturday with a gross value of 5,000, usually grows smaller as the day for its running draws nearer but this season it is proving an exception, and today another candidate was added to the probable field, bringing the total number of starters to fifteen colts and geldings. Blind Eagle, Chicago-owned three-year-old in the large stable of Mrs. Emil Denemark, entered the picture today when word was received that he would be shipped to- Churchill Downs immediately. Several days ago Wise Fox, Canadian-owned winner of the Louisiana Derby belonging to A. G. Tarn, was an unexpected invader of "tne uowns tor the prime purpose of starting in the famous fixture. Blind Eagle, coming from the East and due at the local track Sunday, will share a palace express car with the Delaware Derby hope, Dauber, one of the higher ranking candidates, which races under the Fox-catcher Farms colors of William Du Pont, Jr. The two horses are at Delaware Park, where both will go through stiff workouts just prior to starting west. Wise Fox got In from Aurora Tuesday evening. PROSPECTIVE STARTERS. With still time for additions or possible withdrawals, the Derby array now includes, besides Blind Eagle, Dauber and Wise Fox,. Maxwell Howards Stagehand and The Chief, , William Woodwards Fighting Fox, Warren Wrights Bull Lea, Willis Sharpe Kilmers Nedayr, Herbert M. Wpolfs Lawrin; Redbreast, owned by Mrs. Payne Whitney; Mountain Ridge, the reliance of Mrs. Ethel V. Mars, J. C. Metz Gov. Chandler, Eert Friends Co-Sport and two from among H. P. Headleys trio, Bourbon King, Menow and Dah He. This was an off day in the training programs of the Derby horses at Churchill Downs and much local racing interest shifted to Keeneland, where the Blue Grass i Stakes, engaging several of the candidates, was run. Lawrin, the Missouri entry which astonished turfdom with his sensational mile In 1:38 trial here yesterday, came out of that spectacular workout in fine condition, according to trainer B. A. Jones. Lawrin took a long gallop on the Derby course this morning, as did Mountain Ridge, Co-Sport, Wise Fox, Stagehand and Stands Alone, the latter J. C. Stone nominee still having an outside chance to reach the Derby post. Several of the leading three-year-olds here are scheduled to start in a three-quarters race Saturday, opening day of the local meeting, which will run through Decoration Day. Tuesday the mile Derby Trial Stakes will, as its title implies, test some of the western leading lights. CHANGE IN RIDERS. Earl Sande, trainer of Howards stable, made an important announcement concerning his Derby plans.
