WOOD MAY ATTRACT TEN Fighting Fox, Bourbon King and Nedayr Principal Contenders. Saturdays Famous 0,000 Added .Jamaica Stake to Furnish Line on Derby Candidates Chances. NEW YORK, N. Y., April 28. The field for the 0,000 Wood Memorial of the Metropolitan Jockey Club, to be decided at Jamaica Saturday, now promises a field of ten starters. This mile and seventy yards gallop will see six of the eligibles for the Kentucky Derby go to the post if the expected company parades. These are William Woodwards Fighting Fox, the brother to Gallant Fox, and the main hope of the East for the Kentucky classic; Hal Price Head-leys Bourbon King, recent winner of the Chesapeake at Havre de Grace; Willis Sharpe Kilmers Nedayr, Mrs. W. P. Stewarts Pasteurized, Mrs. Parker Comings Thanksgiving, and Myron Selznicks Cant Wait. Besides these, James Fitzsimmons will send out the Wheatley Stables Quick Devil and Stormscud to bear Fighting Fox company. Wood Song will race for the Greentree Stable, and Opera Hat will carry the silks of the Woodland Farm stable. ALL IN FINE FETTLE. All of these have trained in a fashion to merit a try for the 0,000 prize and the renewal gives promise of being a notable one. Fitzsimmons gave Fighting Fox, Quick Devil and Stormscud their final for the engagement at Aqueduct Wednesday morning, and each one of the colts worked impressively. Opera Hat also had his final trial earlier in the week, while Nedayr has worked well since his recent defeat in the Stuyvesant Handicap when he was beaten by Merry Lassie. Yesterday morning Bourbon King, which showed his fitness in the Chesapeake last Saturday, was breezed an easy half in :52 at Jamaica. He appears to be at the top of his form. Pasteurized and Thanksgiving were both out at Belmont Park, and each was sent along for a useful mile. Pasteurized went in 1:41, nicely in hand all the way, while Thanksgiving turned his mile in 1:43. It was enough to indicate that he will improve over his recent performance. While Bourbon King is sure to have a following by reason of his Chesapeake victory, it is safe to promise that the entry sent out by Fitzsimmons will go to the post public choice. Fighting Fox will make the trio the choice, but Quick Devil has greatly improved and Stormscud, though beaten in the Chesapeake, is a worthy member of the establishment. EXPECT IMPROVED NEDAYR. Nedayr is sure to show to better advantage at a mile and seventy yards than he did in the Stuyvesant, in which he was beaten by both Merry Lassie and Steel Knight. He was closing on those fast sprinters at the end of that swiftly run dash. There is no doubt of the complete readiness of Opera Hat and his fitness was shown ! in his only start at the meeting when he was j a galloping winner. Wood Song gave a good account of himself under silks and has since worked well for "Bill" Brennan and Pas-j teurized was undoubtedly benefited by his recent race when he just failed to catch Little Miracle in a six-furlong sprint. Cant Wait is one that has not raced to expectations and it is possible he will not be sent to the post,
