BRAMBLE SORTIE, away well and showing good early speed, saved ground throughout, was rated along steadily, responded readily when called upon entering the stretch and withstood a long drive in good manner. BLUE ICE was under good restraint early while on the inside, moved up gradually and went to the outside when making his challenge, but hung near the finish. RED CHIEF, well up from the start, raced wide on the second turn, but continued evenly. WALL made a weak belated effort. PONIARD leaped into the air at the start but entered contention quickly, then tired. NUTRUSH was hard ridden to take command, but faltered. The others were outrun.
