I CHASE, a strong factor from the start, failed to menace the winner, but held on under strong pressure. BELLE ELAN, reserved when outrun, moved up after five-sixteenths, but tired in the last stages. JUST IMPERIAL raced on the inside and showed an even effort. DOWER tired. GOOD STAR tired after reaching contention on the inside. AJAYGEE raced greenly. SUGAR RUN raced well in the stretch. NORMAN SLOAT bore out badly entering the stretch and tired thereafter. MY TOMMIE, at home in the going and never far back, moved up after five-eighths, forged to the front nearing the final quarter and was unable to draw clear, but withstood HILFAIR. The latter, reserved when outrun, came fast after being sent to the inside in the stretch, bothered MISS GOHI nearing the final eighth and finished strongly. DOUBLE R. worked his way forward on the outside and hung in the last stages. MISS GOHI improved her position after a half mile and was forced back by HILFAIR in the drive. STILL ALARM made up ground. IMPERIAL LU and BALLOT BOY quit. WHITE BREAD appeared not to like the track. SPEED QUEEN broke down after five eighths and was pulled up. Overweight — Ballot Boy, 3 pounds.
