i STAGEHAND TO BE SENT 1 j AFTERJSOOOO CLASSIC Col. Maxwell Howards Stagehand, hero of the 00,000 Santa Anita Handicap, which was eliminated as the Kentucky Derby favorite by last minute illness, will be pointed for the 0,000 Classic Stakes, most important mid-summer race for three-year-olds, trainer Earl Sande notified Arlington Park officials today. It is expected that the entry of Colonel Howards The Chief, as well as Stagehand, will be included in the Classics nominations list, which closes June 1. They also may be named for the 5,000 Arlington Cup and the 0,000 Stars and Stripes Handicap. With the assurance of the entry of "the uncrowned Kentucky Derby hero" in the Classic, racing fans are now more than ever optimistic of the Classic developing into the test that will establish the 1938 champion of the three-year-olds. The race will be run on Saturday, July 22.
