ADJUSTMENT OF OFFICIALS Detroit and River Downs Plans for Use of Men in Charge of Racing on Two Days of Conflict. CINCINNATI, Ohio, May 20— With the Detroit meeting, which opens May 28, and the River Downs meeting, which closes May 30, conflicting for two days, director of racing Joseph A Murphy has made an adjustment of the officials so that both tracks will be well fortified in every department. Jack S. Young will serve as presiding steward at River Downs for the last four days of the meeting with H. R. Allshouse as his associate. Wm. Kelly also will remain as clerk of the scales and paddock judge. Charles Henry, racing secretary, also will remain at Cincinnati until the end, serving as a placing judge in addition to his other duties. OTIS DUE EARLY. Judge Murphy will go to Detroit the last of next week and will in addition to his other duties, take personal charge of the racing secretarys office until Henry arrives. Through the coutresy of the Aurora management, Frank Otis will leave Aurora before the close of the meeting there so that he can take up his duties as clerk of the scales and placing judge at Detroit. G. R. "Buddy" Wingfield also will go to Detroit for the opening day and Byron Steele probably will finish out the season at Cincinnati. John Carey will go to Detroit to act as placing judge and entry clerk and George Peterson will take up his duties there the opening day as timer, leaving Clifford Trimpe, his assistant, to do the timing for the last two days in Cincinnati. •
