LADY HIGLOSS TAKES SPRINT Seven-Year-Old Mare Holds Length and a Half Lead Over Kentucky Blues in Feature at Suffolk. BOSTON, Mass., May 20.— Miss Anita Doris Lady Higloss, an old favorite in this section of the country, won the three-quarters allowance event that featured a chilly j and cloudy day of sport at Suffolk Downs i this afternoon. Carroll Bierman drove the Ladkin mare home a length and a half in 1 advance of Rosedale Stables Kentucky ! Blues. The latter had a half length to spare 1 over H. E. Engers Zoic, one of the best sprinters in New England last season. Mans-co finished fourth. Shangay Lily, latest of ; the Chilean invaders, was making her first j start in this country. She showed little, J winding up sixth. They say the mare is of handicap calibre. Gay Balko made the early pace followed ! by Zoic, but tired at the far turn and Ken-I tucky Blues drove to a narrow lead. As they straightened away, Bierman moved with I Lady Higloss, collared the leading Kentucky j Blues a sixteenth out, and drew off after j that. Kentucky Blues ran a good race and i should improve off it. Zoic was unable to keep up in the drive. Rain fell intermittently throughout the I day but the track was fast for the feature, ! run in the good time of 1:11% over the slightly dead course.
