i OMAHA TURF NOTES | ►__ $ Earl Beezley, the former Syracuse, Neb., I horseman who has had one of the outstanding stables of the West Coast in the past two years, arrived at Ak-Sar-Ben field with twenty head. Beezley came early to get his horses ready for the opening of the meeting on May 28. His stable includes Sobriety, Sky Pirate, Top Radio, Torobang, Flossmoor, Kayak, Maria Juliet, Pipe Down, Night Girl, Silver Blade, Hassen, Usickle, Maori Lad, Maori Girl, Chilnore, Susie A., Playmay, Sharp Miss, Kent and Little Kiev. Arriving from Laredo, Texas, this week were C. Locklear, with Nopalosa Stock Farms Nopalosa Peace and Nopalosa Porte, and P. O. Hughes, of Stanton, Texas, with Wee Clair, Parqua Pass and Miss Wade. They advised that quite a number of additional Texas horses are on the way to Omaha. C. W. and J. W. Cooper of Imperial, Neb., pulled in this week with nine head, most of them Nebraska-breds. The stable includes Miss Kiev, Kiev Girl, Silver Banquet, Hope Banquet, Don Banquet, Dark Day, Villa Banquet, Gold Banquet. Herman Zibell, of Pierce, Neb., arrived last week with his good Nebraska-bred mare, Ethel T. Marsco, a full sister to Lawrin, Kentucky Derby winner, and Seldina, another good-looking young mare sired by Insco, sire of . I Lawrin, arrived at Ak-Sar-Ben field with a I shipment of horses from B. A. Jones Stock Farm. The two young mares look in fine condition, and are owned by G. L. Wilson of Kansas City. R. J. Kerrish of Brush, Col., who will race at Ak-Sar-Ben for the first time this year, has two horses here, Carquette and Light Chief. One of the recent arrivals from Hot Springs was Ross Oesterlicker, who brought Home Worth, Guess and another horse. Another arrival from Hot Springs was J. Les-sert with the horses Too Busy and Over-trick. James H. Hall of Stanberry, Mo., is ready-| I ing two for the Ak-Sar-Ben opening on May I 28. They are Bad Axe and Arielette. Cliff Axe, of Council Grove, Kans., who is making his first showing at this years Ak-Sar-Ben meeting, was in town this week to make arrangements for the shipping of his horses. Perry Reed, secretary of the Nebraska State Fair at Lincoln, was in Omaha last week to make arrangements for the shipping of his stable of nine horses to Ak-Sar-Ben. Reeds stable is trained by his I ] daughter, Miss Jeanette Reed. Mr. Reed is seeking the services of some one to ride his horses, due to an injury to his jockey, O. Atherton, who was injured recently while training a horse at the Fair Grounds. ! One of the early arrivals from Hot Springs : was the stable trained by A. C. Moss, I Nebraska horseman, who is readying his horses for the opening of Ak-Sar-Ben. They include Clientelle, Alberta B. and Pandisco. R. C. Gilmore of Ulysses, Neb., president of the Nebraska Thoroughbred Breeders Association, has four head here in training, namely, Wavy Sea, Norma Clark, Millie R. and San Flo. He Devil, the veteran Nebraska campaigner owned by Rollie Hughes of Fairbury, is rounding into shape to contend for honors in some of the Nebraska-bred events. Toby Chandler, editor of the Creston, Iowa, Times, was a visitor at Ak-Sar-Ben field this week with Bernard Kelly, brother of Paul Kelly, the well known Pacific Coast horseman. Bernard Kelly made application for stalls for four well-bred young horses by Seths Rival and Laddie Buck. They are Laddies Chance, Fancy Siss, Peter E. and Little Rival. James E. Irvine, sheriff of Leavenworth, Kan., is one of the newcomers to Ak-Sar-Ben. Mr. Irvine unloaded four head this week, namely, Blind Hope, Golden Nugget, Reimbursement and Margaret J. With Riverside Park at Kansas City closed this spring, many of the horsemen who formerly raced there are coming to Ak-Sar-Ben for the spring meeting which opens Saturday, May 28. A recent arrival here was H. E. Nicely of Kansas City, with Leeoran, Color Major, Lanell and Revlon. Another Kansas City horseman to arrive here was R. A. I Brown, who brought Mullet and The Mis-eourian. . | | j I |
