LOURDES OAKS CANDIDATE LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 20.— Lourdes, a three-year-old daughter of Chicle and Shrine, is the latest addition to the field for the rich Kentucky Oaks, time-honored Churchill Downs fixture to be run a week from tomorrow. In the past the Oaks, as old as the Kentucky Derby, has attracted several starters from the Greentree Stable of Mrs. P. Whitney, owner of Lourdes. and in 1923 her famous silks carried by Unity were successful in the sixty-four-year-old prize. In preparation for her engagement the Whitney filly worked one mile here this morning. Training under favorable conditions she traversed the distance in 1:42%, an excellent move considering that she was not extended. The Oaks distance is one mile and a furlong.
