The latter had speed from the start, took an apparently safe lead when FRED ALMY besan to the and, tiring through the last sixteenth, barelv failed to last. BROWN PRODIGY, hard ridden all the way. was unable to close any ground throueh the last eiehth. QUICK was well up but unable to close any ground when placed under punishment. BROWN MARVEL was never a serious factor. MEDICS DIES was far back for the first half mile and passed tiring *orses through the last three sixteenths. FRED ALMY quit. CCCNTRY LASS was outpaced for the first half mile, moved into contention with a rush, and, catching the leaders tiring inside the last sixteenth, drew out fast after taking the command. LIGHT ROLLS had speed from the start, met determined opposition from BLCE GROTTO and had nothing left with which to meet the bid of the winner. BLCE GROTTO was forv.ardly placed all the way, although unable to close any ground in the stretch drive. HARRY G. was well placed throughout but unable to keep the pace during the last three-sixteenths. MAD KERRY moved up with a rush on the inside straightening out for the stretch run. TONEYS TOMBOY was caught in close quarters early and blocked when attempting to come between the leaders nearing the far turn. CRCSAND was outrun. SQCAWKER. quickest to begin, drew clear in the cpening eighth and, raced along in front, met a determined bid from NEMONT nearing the eighth post, and drew clear at the end. NEMONT, displaying improved early speed, raced along in closest pursuit of the winner from practically the outset, and held on well to the close. EARL PORTER, unahle to keep up early, held on well through the stretch, although barely lasting long enough to withstand LOAFER. The latter, slow to begin and a trailer until the last five sixteenths, closed with a rush and was traveling the fastest of all at the end. ROMNEY ROYAL was unable to keep up under urging. LADY TICHNER was permitted t* settle into her best stride and was not called upon to improve her speed until nearing the far turn, moved up steadily when called upon, came to the outside when reaching the stretch and was alon;; in the last twenty yards to wear down DANCING CLOCD. The latter, in closest chase of the early pare established by LIKEWISE, took command when the latter began to tire, and. although holding on well, was not quite good enough. WROCGHT IRON saved ground at the stretch turn and held on gamely to the close. SUN ASIA, under punishment in the opening stride to keep up, moved up on the outside down the back stretch, moved up threateningly at the stretch turn, only to tire during the last three sixteenths. PEERLESS PAL tired. LIKEWISE quit badly after cutting out the early pace. Corrected weight — Dancing Cloud, 117. FIFTH RACE 1 MILE AND 70 YARDS. DELTA DAN took command at once, lost command brietly to NIGHT RAVEN straightening out on the back stretch, regained the lead when called upon, opened up a good lead nearing the half mile ground and dominated the running to the end. although ridden out sharply to the close. MIDSHIPMAN, unable ti keep the pace early, was under intermittent punishment the entire last three-eighths, and closed with good energy. SCUDDER, restrained early, moved up on the outside rounding the far turn and, despite hard urging, was unable to reach the leaders, and passed tiring horses through the stretch. LADY HIGLOSS was steadied alons back of the pace for the first three eighths, began bettering her position on the outside nearing the stretch and. closing stoutly, wore down the leaders to "draw out steadily in the last seventy yards. KENTCCKY BLUES moved up willingly on the outside, raced to the front when GAY BALKO began tiring and, although holding on willingly, was no match for the winner in the closing test. ZOIC had to force his way through a narrow opening nearing the far turn, then held to a position on the inside, but was unable to improve his position under pressure in the stretch drive. MANSCO trailed early and came with a belated rush through the stretch. GAY BALKO tired after going a half mile. TRANSBRIAR trailed early and closed ground during the last five-sixteenths. PRINCE ALEX was unable to enter into serious contention. LOLEET tired badly after going five-eighths. SYNOD was well placed all the way, but was unable to close any ground under punishment in the last quarter mile. STORY TIME displayed good speed in the pacemakins. faltering after reaching the stretch. AIRLAP moved up menacingly on the outside midway of the turn, only to tire in the closing drive.
